Syrian Hamsters The Perfect Pet

This hub page is about Syrian Hamsters and why they make good pets. We've seen a lot on here about Hamsters but they are more serious topics of how to look after them and what to do when they are sick and my daughter Chelsea decided that she would like to write a hub page to tell you all what it's like to actually own and love a hamster .... so here it is.

Syrian hamsters are loveable, cute and friendly. If you are trying to choose between a Syrian, a Roborovski, a Russian or a Chinese I would go for a Syrian because the Syrian hamster is the biggest hamster which means that you can cuddle with your Syrian and it's always nice to have a cuddle.

However, the reason why I wouldn't choose any other hamster is that my first was a Syrian hamster and she was called Pumpkin. I loved her more than anything, but sadly at the age of 3 years old she passed away. After she died I got two Roborovski hamsters, but I found that they were too fast for me and too small so that meant I couldn't cuddle with them because they were just running all the time and if one were to escape well, I don't think I would ever get them back. So with Roborovskis not being my type of hamster I got a Syrian again, I've still got her now and you can read more about her in the Lily Section!

My little Syrian Hamster, Lily, is 3 months and 1 week old, she is orange and white, and her birthday is on my Nanny's birthday, the 14th of May 2011.

She loves chocolate and strawberry drops, it's her favourite treat. In the night she is very noisy, she likes to chew her water bottle but when she chews it too hard it squirts all over her.

She's so much fun to play with, I sometimes let her go in her ball or I sometimes let her go in this toy that she can run around in and when she runs to either side it tilts.

I think if you're going to name your new baby hamster you should give him/her a unique name, it could be a type of food, a flower, or a word from a different language such as Bella, which means beautiful in Italian.
